Fun fun fun at the Science Center!

Today we had a playdate at the Science Center, it was a lot of fun! They have something called Otronicon right now at The Orlando Science Center. They had tons of flat screen T.V.'s and video game systems on every single floor! So while we were there wr gamed!

Why not right?  When in Rome?  :)

We did all of the usual fun Science Center Stuff and played with the game systems in between. We had a few last minute cancellations with Playgroup members who were supposed to come today so it was just us and a friend with her 3 year old son.

Overall we had a great day except for a moment when I was a little annoyed when I ran into a local mom with Twins who snubbed me because I am not a member of gomott, the local Twins & Triplets club of Orlando. I had never met her before and she seemed half way friendly until she asked me if I was in gomott and I said no. Oh well, I can not be a member of that group because of this situation. It's not my fault so get over it people! Geesh!!

Maybe I should start snubbing Twin Moms who I meet in public who are not in my playgroup.  Nah.....I will just let them do all of the snubbing since they are so skilled at it. I happen to live in a state that is made up of mostly very unfriendly Moms of Multiples. It's unfortunate but there are a few very nice ones to make up for all of ther unfriendly snobby ones.

Anyway, we had a blast trying to figure out XBOX kinect and a few other cool game systems  they had there.

They had a lot of fun playing in the water table too... It is a good thing I took off their sweaters and let them play in their Tee Shirts, They got their Tee shirts super wet!!
All in good fun though. It is tough to play with water and not get wet, ya know?

Poor guys ended up with a slight red rash on their faces from some oil and vinegar on a subway sub. It seems like all of my kids have had issues over the years, especially in the toddler-preschooler years with condiments. Ketchup, salad dressings, mustard. They have no allergies to it but what of it gets on their faces causes a slight splotchy red rash. The good thing is that the rash normally clears within 2-3 hours and seems to cause them no discomfort. They must just have very sensitive skin.

We always have to play with the fossil dig...lots of fun! They love the Dinosaurs! The Dinosaur exhibit is their favorite part of the Orlando Science Center.

They have a blast at the Science Center, there is so much to play with!!

 Very serious gamer faces!!  haha!

We ended the day with some more fun back at one of the kids play areas!
Nap time was nearing so we received a few sarcastic faces and a bit of whining.

Unfortunately my friend bonked her head on the Train.. oww!
I accidentally took a pic right as she bonked her head! eek!
We <3 you Tera & Dylan!!

Public Urination

As for potty learning...Emerson was the last to learn and the easiest. She (and Avery) can hold it for what feels like EVER. Like crazy bladder control for 3 yr olds! Emerson has been reluctant to go to the bathroom in public lately. And when I say bathroom I mean pee not poop. She hasn't had an accident in forever. The only accidents she had were the ones when she first started learning...until last Friday.

While we were out I saw her holding her self. I asked her if she needed to pee and she said no. We were out all morning and I did not ask her to use the bathroom before we left (my bad). I needed to make a quick stop at the grocery. I opted to let them walk instead of the double cart, only needed a few things. Saw her holding herself repeatedly. She asked to ride in the cart and I obliged. As we were walking down the condiment isle Avery stopped dead in her tracks and got this strange look on her face. I asked her if she needed to use the restroom. "Yes, I gotta poop!" Off to the bathroom we went. I asked Emerson if she needed to pee (again!) she said no (again!). I left her in the cart right outside the restroom(asking the closest cashier to keep an eye on her. The bathrooms are right in front of the register area) and took Avery in. Got Avery settled on the potty and checked on Emerson. Avery finished and we washed up. When I got back to Emerson she asked to walk. As I lifted her out of the cart I saw condensation on the seat. Yep, she had an accident. I did not have a change of pants in my bag only panties so she had to finish our shopping trip with a wet bottom. Then when we got to the car I changed her into dry undies for the ride home.

That same night was parents night out at the YMCA. We dropped them off at 7pm and picked them up at 9. Guess who had a wet bottom when we picked them up. On the ride home I inquired about if the sitters at the Y asked them if they needed to use the potty. Both Avery and Emerson said they had been asked and Avery said, "I go pee."
Me, "Emerson, did they ask you if you needed to go pee?"
"Yeaherm." (her weird way of saying yes)
"Did you use the potty?"
"No."
"Did you pee in your pants?"
"Yeaherm."

I was really kind of freaking out. Not sure what to do. Finally I did a little search online and found some suggestions that might work.

I was going to visit EVERY POSSIBLE RESTROOM when we were out and about to breed familiarity. There was one thing I read and didn't even pay attention really, but then in the spur of the moment I tried yesterday cause I knew she had to go. I did not think that the reason she was not going was the massive opening of the toilet. I thought it was noise and unfamiliar surroundings.

We were at Borders, it's becoming our regular Tuesday stop after gymnastics, and I saw E holding herself. I asked her if she had to pee and she of course said, "no." I said, "well, I have to so come on everyone lets go to the potty!" We went into the bathroom and I went first. After pulling up my pants I sat back down on the toilet really far back with my legs spread, and said, "OK, who wants to sit with mommy to go pee pee?" Avery was like, HECK YEAH! so she went first and Emerson was giggling at this sight of us together on the toilet. Then Emerson said, "my turn, my turn!" So I pulled her pants down and sat her between my legs. She went (giggling the whole time) and I told her how proud I was of her. I think she would have tried it if she did not have her twin there for her to laugh at but it sure did help lighten the situation and make her less nervous.

Today when leaving the YMCA I saw Emerson holding herself. Asked her if she wanted to sit on my lap and use the potty, and she said, "Yeaherm!"

Then when we were home she asked if we could do it "again!" as she pointed to the toilet in her bathroom. I told her that we "only do that when we are out. That will be our special way to go pee pee in a public restroom. OK?" "Yeaherm!"

143 and counting!!! Get Noticed!

Featured M.O.M. Megan Johnson 1/14/11

Name: Megan Johnson

Age: 31

Marital Status: Married

Blog: johnsontripletgirls.blogspot.com

Multiples: Makenna, Jaeli, Maysie 2.5 years old

About you: I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful girls and our newest addition, my handsome baby boy.

About your Multiples: Makenna, our fraternal, is definitely the boss, but the most shy around new people. She is "in trouble" the most, but she is the most affectionate. Jaeli (ID) is a loner, we often find her sitting in a corner reading a book to herself or her baby. She loves to be loved. She has the cutest smile and laugh. Maysie (ID) is our silly girl. She is always trying to make us laugh. She is also all drama!

Your Favorites for Multiples: Bottle props were a huge time saver when they were infants. Baby Einstein DVD's keep them occupied for an hour or so, so I can get some things done when needed.

Their favorites: Doll babies, stickers, song playing toys, puzzles and books.

Advice to others: Be very organized, stick to a schedule, don't be afraid to ask or get help, a support system is much needed, take many pictures because the time goes by very fast, and baby proof!

Some days I feel like I have quads. Our newest addition Jace is 18 months younger than the triplets, but catching up fast!

Twinter Wonders

We waited and waited...and finally it came...SNOW! We have been through most of our first, but seconds and thirds can be just as much fun. Last winter the boys were barely sitting as they were pulled around in their sled, this year they were off and running. First thing Dylan did was plop down flat on his back and looked up at me with his playful smile, while Ashton ran off and grabbed a shovel and began to attempt to shovel snow. All I could do, as any proud mama would, is look in awe. My babies have grown into toddlers, and before I know it they will be little men throwing snow balls and building snow forts just like big brother is doing, ugh and big brother will be *gulp* and man by then. You know the saying "time flies when you are having fun", well what the heck does time do when you have twins? It goes in double time, not much time to just soak up the moment before it passes. My boys are such polar opposites, Dylan fell, and wanted mama to hold him while he watched the other boys run and play, while Ashton ran circles around them older boys, went down the slide, and beat the snow off of mama's Suburban, and threw one heck of a fit when it was time for him to come in to warm up. Moments like these I never want to forget, no it wasn't their first time in the snow, but it was the most fun they had in it ever! So once again we are back to that same ole' phrase, "double the trouble, double the fun". Takes twice the time getting all bundled in that snow gear, and being a twin mom is hard, and that is no lie, but it also gives twice the amazement as I get to watch them discover and explore each and everything around them.

Do they make an Anchor for Toddlers??

Ya know how if you are out on a boat, there is no dock nearby.....

You decide you want to dock the boat to have some lunch or go fishing, but what do you do if there are no docks and you are out in the middle of the lake?
You drop your anchor. Once you drop your anchor, your boat will stay put.

What if you are a Mom of Toddler Twins, Triplets, or more and you have a "runner"?
A "runner" is a toddler who takes off and thinks it is utterly hilarious. You yell for them to STOP but they keep on running and thinking it is utterly hilarious. For some reason they have it in their head that it is SUDDENLY a great idea to make Mommy chase them.....ohhhhh about.... RIGHT NOW!!!!! Ya know when RIGHT NOW is. right?
It is when you are.....
Sitting on the floor in the Gymboree lobby trying to put your shoes on and put your Twins coats, shoes and socks back on. Let's not forget you have no shoes on and you are in the middle of putting one of your Twins shoes on. When SUDDENLY the other Twin.....The "runner" gets up and shoots like a rocket out of the front door of Gymboree....Out into the PARKING LOT. WTF!!!!!

I am not even sure WTF even covers this type of situation, it is more like an OMGWTFBBQ. Let's just say it is not a fun situation to be in.

SO, like every time your "runner" shoots out some door or across the lawn like a rocket.....you get up and run after him at warp speed. Realizing the other Twin is sitting inside Gymboree looking dumbfounded like "WTF is wrong with my TWIN"? (but he is sitting there, like a good boy....waiting)

So you are yelling STOP, STOP, NO, WAIT, STOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
but he KEEPS ON RUNNING til he is in the parking lot and you finally catch up and grab him.  *GEESH*

Then you pick him up, walk calmly back into Gymboree. Sit him on the floor and continue to put he and his Twins shoes, socks, and coats back on. Then your shoes and go on your merry way to the car.

I don't know if all Twin moms or Moms of higher order multiples have a runner but my Twins were born 8 weeks early. I had pre-eclampsia. Ended up in the hospital and then My "runner" Twins' heart rate dropped to 60 and then they took me in for a c-section.

He had 2 low grade brain bleeds that stopped and he was cleared as ok. They spent a month in the NICU...but then at not quite age 2, he had a big nasty seizure.
None since, and he has not been recommended for Therapy or anything.

He does not listen, he does not follow instructions, he is super immature compared to his Twin but he is deemed..on track, and just fine by doctors.

So in those instances when he takes off running I think...they really need to make an anchor for "runner" toddlers. That way they can be there with you but anchored and can not take off to put themselves into danger...or make you chase them.

I realize that is a pretty far fetched idea but it is a funny thought huh!
